THAT WAS A GREAT ASSEMBLY FOLKS - YOU HAVE ALL ACHIEVED SO MUCH ! AWESOME

THANK YOU TO HILDA BROMLEY WHO CAME TO VISIT US ON JUNE 25TH WITH HER OLYMPIC TORCH!
IT WAS GREAT TO HEAR THAT SHE HAD BEEN SPECIALLY CHOSEN TO CARRY THE TORCH BECAUSE OF HER KINDNESS TO OTHERS IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY.
We were very excited to welcome our friends from St George's Primary School in Salford, Manchester, on Wednesday May 9th 2012. We spent the morning getting to know each other then had a time playing on our school yard. In the afternoon we went to the beach to play football, play with our parachute and eat ice cream. The rain held off until our walk home! We are planning a return visit so watch this space...
Please have a look at our photo story at the foot of this page.

World Book Day 1st March 2012
What a great variety of books we saw- fairy tales, factual books, novels - even a pop-up book!

Thank you to the children in Year 5 who read their brilliant legend stories. Now we are going to have a go!

HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
Congratulations to every team that competed in our Year 3 inter-house hockey competition recently. It was a terrific final and 3rd place play off. Well done to the Scarisbrick team who were the overall winners.

One or two parents have requested further information regarding the 50 Club and how children problem solve in mathematics.

I have posted links to give you a better idea of these two areas of the curriculum
(see 'What is the 50 Club?'and 'St Philip's School Calculation policy')
and would be very happy to add any further
items should you require them.
