June  -  Staff INSET - chronology tasks and exploring why history is important - second order skills

 

 Historical Association Quality Mark 

 

This process has been an ongoing training experience for several years - culminating in the application for gold status in July this year. It has led to a range of new approaches - one example being the class timeline posters  - one of which is below 

Autumn 2021

Rich seams - 3 words staff training - PowerPoint and display

 

DL modelling how to play 'histingo' - a game which develops the use of chronology vocabulary - aimed at making knowledge stick and strengthening connections with prior learning.

DL attended session about 'filling the gaps' caused by lockdown - focus on skills

Peterloo full day INSET from the Historical Association (free) 

At People's History Museum Manchester attended by DL to explore this important event in our local history and how to include this in our curriculum

 

Staff INSET to discuss and feedback on staff history survey: Let's get ready for history 2019-2020

We discussed the checklist of how to prepare history units and what to include and from the survey how to give individual support to staff
