Welcome back to Summer 2 - Beside the Sea

Welcome back to the second half of our online Summer Term. I hope you have been able to enjoy some sunshine and had time to relax during the half term holiday. I have certainly made the most of the beautiful coastal walks and scenery we are so fortunate to have on our doorsteps this past week. I am sure many of you have spent time walking along the beaches in Southport recently and if not, this half term will provide lots of opportunities for you to explore and compare a number of different seaside towns in the UK. It would be great if you could share pictures of your trips to the beach and write about your experience of living in a seaside town.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2020

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. The theme for the week is "Kindness"

I'm sure that you can think of lots of times that people have shown kindness to you. How did it make you feel?

There are lots of people who are being recognised in the TV for their kindness, such as 100-year-old Captain Tom Moore  as he walked his garden to raise money for the NHS. We want that kindness to spread further in every community in the UK. Starting right here in Southport!

Below you will find a "Power of Kindness Calendar"

Each day I encourage you to carryout an act of kindness for someone in your family, or maybe even a neighbour. Mark each act of kindness off on your calendar and let's show everybody how kind we all are! smiley

Wednesday 13th May

Don't forget, today is the deadline for handing in your writing for the 'Life in Lockdown' competition. There have been some great entries from Year 1 so far, so make sure you email me your work today!

Good morning Year 1! I hope you have had a lovely weekend and that you are ready for week 3 of the Summer term. I have made a little video this weekend, which I hope makes you smile (click the link below). Don't forget Joe Wicks is live on YouTube each morning from 9am. Even if you don't take part in this, try and take part in at least one form of exercise each day to help you to stay fit and healthy! laughIt was lovely to receive lots of lovely emails and messages from many of you last week. I would love to hear even more updates from you this week, so keep the emails and photos coming!

Take care, love from

Hello from Peekaboo and Miss Samuel!

Lots of you have been asking how Peekaboo is and what he's been doing at home. Here are a couple of pictures of him enjoying the sunshine. He has been a bit cheeky and decided to climb into my flip-flop to sunbathe! He also loves to hide in his tee-pee and eat his dandelions! Peekaboo would love to see and hear about what you have been doing at home!! Lots of love from Miss Samuel and Peekaboo xxx

Wellbeing - Choose one of these great activities to do each day!

Welcome back Year 1! I hope you have had a lovely Easter break at home, with your family and you are ready to begin the Summer Term. I am missing you all very much and I hope we will soon be back together, learning in school and having fun. This half term we will be looking at all things 'Beatles'. Each day I will post activities linked to our Summer 1 curriculum which I hope you will enjoy! Be sure to check Purple Mash and the 'Daily Learning' tabs below to find your work for each day. Don't forget to use our Blog on Purple Mash to share news and pictures.

Keep safe!

Hello! I hope you have all had a good weekend and you're ready for week two of learning at home. Hopefully you have all now managed to access some the learning tasks that have been set. Each week Children's University are offering 2 credits to children who complete a 'weekly challenge' and submit it back to them via email. Details of this week's challenge can be found in the 'Other Subjects' link on this page. Even if you don't usually take part in Children's University, you can still complete this activity and email a photo of your work to me, or upload a copy onto our class blog.

So we have almost completed Week 1 of 'home learning' and I have got to say... I'm missing seeing my

lovely friends each day in school. I hope you have enjoyed spending more time with your family, learnt something new and hopefully had some fun too! Well done to all of you who have completed your learning tasks this week, if anybody is struggling to access their work, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Have a lovely weekend!

Dandelions are Peekaboo's favourite food! What is your favourite food? Can you draw a picture of your favourite meal and write about why you like it? You could even share a recipe on our class blog!

Miss Samuel xx

It is another beautiful sunny day outside and we have got lots to be thankful for, despite things being a little bit different at the moment. Today I am thankful that my friends and family are safe and well. I am also thankful for all of the fun we have had so far in Year 1 and I pray that it won't be too long before that fun can continue!

Take time today to think about some of the things you are thankful for!
