THANK YOU FOR THOSE WHO COMPETED IN THE MEOLS COP HIGH SCHOOL PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION ON JULY 4TH. THE STANDARD OF PERFORMANCES WERE AMAZING. SPECIAL PRAISE IS DUE FOR OUR WINNER, ELLA TOBIN, WHO SPOKE OF HER LOVE OF HOMEWORK(NOT!)
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE YEAR 5 TEAM IN SCARISBRICK WHO WON THE INTER-HOUSE ROUNDERS COMPETITION RECENTLY - AWESOME STRIKING!
HALF TERM HOMEWORK!
During the May-June half term Mrs Jellicoe and I would like the children to make a model of a musical instrument using recycled materials. The instrument can then be brought into school and displayed as part of our project on 'Sound.' Due to limited display space, we would appreciate it if the model is no larger than 20cm (approx 8 inches.)
Materials which are suitable would include card, tissue, paper, sellotape, foil, newspaper etc. The children may choose which instrument to make but it must be an instrument which can be shaken, struck or scraped.
If you are feeling particularly creative your child may wish to try a flute-like instrument - good luck!
CAUTION Parental help may be needed when your child is using glue or scissors etc.
Many thanks,
Mr Travers and Mrs Jellicoe
WE LOVE READING!
Every day after lunch Year 5 have a good read. Sometimes, we welcome children from other year groups to join us, other days we share our whole class novel. We also enjoy guided reading groups, comprehension quizzes and taking books to other classes to read. Please keep bringing in those reading records!
