  Friday 20th June- Raising Aspirations

As part of our PSCHE program Year 6 are learning about different careers and the skills we would need for those jobs. This morning William's Mum, who is children's nurse, visited us. She told us all about her job and the wide-range of skills nurses need- including detective work!

We also had a visit from Alex who is a charity fundraiser as his job. He told us about his latest challenge where he ran the Merseyrail run- over 24 hours he ran to every rail station in Merseyside and raised a huge amount of money. It was great to hear about his job, the skills he uses everyday and how he has used his hobby of running as a focus for his fund raising.

Year 6 talked to him about their Smile challenge- how they planned what to sell, what went well and what they would do differently next time.

Number day 2025

For Number day we had a class game of ‘Who wants to be a Mathionaire? ‘ We got into teams and had to think of a maths-related team name e.g. The Guessimals!

There were 12 questions– each worth a different amount of points. We really enjoyed working out the answers as a team and practised skills in: the four number operations, time, co-ordinates, shape, measures and problem solving.

For our second activity we used peg boards to create different 2D shapes- we practised using vocabulary linked to 2D shapes and revised names and properties of 2D shapes.
