  • Anti-bullying Week

    Fri 18 Nov 2016
We have had a busy week in school learning about how to be good friends with each other and how bullying can be resolved.
On Monday our Year 4 treated us to their class worship which reminded us of how important remembrance day is and how we should show gratitude to others.
Rev Marie-Anne told us a wonderful story about Willy and his friend Hugh. The lesson we learned was that no matter who you are you are always able to help others out.
On Wednesday our friends at Elim Church came to talk to us about putting ourselves into other peoples shoes - trying to appreciate how others would feel.
The Southport Workers Trust visited on Thursday and produced a dynamic play about respect and helping other people out.
The whole school marked their support and concern for other children who are not as fortunate as us by going Spotty for Children In Need Day.
  • Anti-Bullying Week Nov 14-18 2016

    Tue 08 Nov 2016
    Dear colleagues,
To help mark this important week we have a number of events planned.
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we shall be having whole school assemblies on the theme of bullying with a special assembly on Friday as part of Children In Need Day (Go dotty!)
The school council are holding a poster competition – each class to design an A4 anti-bullying poster which will be judged on Friday Nov 18th with a prize for each class winner. These seven posters will then be laminated and displayed around school for the year. Please guide your pupils on this project!
If you look at the Anti-bullying folder on the shared drive I have posted some materials for you to use during the week and Mrs Lamb has posted some links for good cyber bullying activities. Please make sure your children cover this important area either through a whole class Smartboard activity, ict suite lesson or i-pad session.
Our peer mediators will be talking to the school during the week at one of our assemblies. Thanks to Lisa Anderson for organising this.
Anti-bullying wristbands have been ordered for Y1 to Y6 children and should be with us shortly.
Our Thursday PSHE session for juniors should be used as either a circle time about bullying or an opportunity for children to discuss their feelings about how we, as a school, can improve behaviour. We have a worry box and buddies and zones etc but is there more we can do?
By the end of the week we would love to see a single sheet of A4 recording the events of the week carried out by your class, with pictures if you like, so we can compile a booklet celebrating our work. Hand this to Mrs Edward. This should be saved on the shared drive folder marked Anti-Bullying.
    Many thanks,
    Mr Travers
