Summer Term One 2017

Welcome back!
I hope you all had a lovely Easter Holiday and are looking forward to all the activities planned this Term, including our Year 2 visit to somewhere very exciting!!!

Our theme this Half Term is Meerkat Madness and many of the lessons will feature a special Meerkat called Sunny. The children will be writing Fact Sheets, letters, postcards, Wanted Posters and stories all based on the adventures of Sunny.
Other subjects will be closely linked to Meerkats too. In Geography Y2 will be learning about Africa, in Art, animal portraits and even music will have a Meerkat link!
In science the children will be developing their ‘green fingers’ as they plant seeds and bulbs and observe their germination and growth.
RE will focus on the Ascension of Jesus and Y2 thoughts and feelings about Heaven.

A few reminders:

Homework is given out on Fridays and needs to be completed and returned by the following Wednesday.

Spelling test lists are glued into books, if they’re in school, on Fridays and the children will be tested on the following Friday.

Reading books are to be brought into school each day. Please try and listen to your child read at least three times per week. This may be as little as three pages. ‘Little and often’ works best for reluctant readers!
