MFL is not on the National Curriculum until KS2 and therefore statutory teaching of a modern foreign language only begins in Y3.
However, at St Philips, we teach the children French from Y1.
Our Curriculum Map reflects this and is planned to provide the children with both an aural and verbal foundation on which to build their skills in KS2.
